After being laid off from my previous job in December 2022, I made the decision to concentrate on my professional growth. Linux has always been an interest of mind and I've been studying it on and off for the last two years to advance my career. In preparation for the LPI Linux Essential certification, I've enrolled in a Udemy course and utilized other learning resources. I plan to take the exam in early 2023 and pursue additional certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, LPIC 1&2, or Red Hat to move toward the offensive team in Cybersecurity. I've experimented with various Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, CentOS, and Kali during my studies.
Even though I am not yet proficient enough to work with Linux, I've been looking for Governance, Risk, and Compliance positions to support my job search. To enhance my skills, I completed a course on NIST CSF to obtain a foundational understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. The course provided insight into the Framework Tiers, Framework Core, and implementation, as well as case studies from various organizations worldwide. Additionally, I gained knowledge on Cyber Risk Mapping (CR-Mapping) phases, enabling me to identify vulnerabilities and develop remediation plans to mitigate cyber risk.
I've completed a GRC master class that focused on practical applications of risk, audit, policy development, and security awareness skills needed for a GRC Analyst role.
In addition to focusing on professional growth, I've been dedicated to managing my Fashion e-commerce store, which I established in 2017. Additionally, I've been providing ongoing technical support to my family's business since 2019. My expertise is demonstrated by my official registration as a domain administrator with ICANN. Furthermore, I've leveraged my natural creative talents and marketing degree to work as a freelance digital marketer.
